The Writer's Block

On Eugene Ormandy's Retirement

Bach's musical macrame'
Of silken threads
Is re-created by
The nimble fingers of
Senor Pablo Casals
Who plays along with
His friend
And interpreter,
Eugene Ormandy,
A gentleman of the
Intellectual design of Johann.

With bows and strings and fingers
Of musical craftsmanship
Into the superhuman -
Perhaps sublime
Artistry (meaning
Skill and feeling
Of the aforementioned)
Senor Casals.

And though
We can not
Create such music
With its emotions,
We understand what we have heard:
A true meaningful expression
Of our very human
        and we hope
               meaningful
Existence.
