Lisa Fieg Admires Jodi Applegate's New 'Do'

By Greg Fieg

Transplanted New Yorker Lisa Fieg joined WPIX anchorwoman Jodi Applegate for side-by-side hairdos at Liz Russell's Third Avenue salon and looked on approvingly as the 46-year-old beauty had her hair specially prepared for her upcoming nuptials.

Applegate, who will marry New York Yankees Yes Network broadcaster Michael "See ya!" Kay just in time for Michael's 50th birthday on February 2, is having an updo created to accommodate an elaborate headpiece requiring what she described as an open forehead. This is the first demonstration of the cut which can be modified after she models her gown in advance of the ceremony. The hairdo cost well over $100.

This is Applegate's second marriage and the first for the elusive, man-about-town groom. A native of the boroughs and a Fordham grad, Kay proposed on Montauk Beach in July with the presentation of a stunning emerald-cut four-carat diamond ring. The wedding will take place at the renowned Plaza Hotel in Manhattan.

Jodi sports a thick mane of hair which has to be carefully thinned by the stylist to ensure the headpiece will stay in place throughout the ceremony.

Lisa has met a number of celebrities as she makes her way around town, including Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, Woody Allen and wife Soon-Yi, Warren Beatty, William Hurt, Matt Dillon, Ringo Starr.
